My Approach To Effective Therapy
My approach insists on honest, genuine interactions to develop insights and skills that will lead to meaningful, lasting, positive change. This includes utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions, evidence based to demonstrate benefits for helping people achieve recovery goals.
I have broad experience and training in treating mood and personality disorders, addiction, grief, and shame. I utilize Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational techniques, and other interventions to help people move forward toward the life they desire. I am trained in family interventions also, and I offer a person centered approach to assist individuals with reaching their goals. I believe that active work on skills and strategies outside of sessions is important, and strive to connect past issues/behaviors to current situations in a way that will promote meaningful, lasting change.
